Self-shooting director / filmmaker

A self-shooting filmmaker and director; one of SDI’s New Voices participants in 2020; selected for the BFI Convergence screenwriting programme; commissioned by Scottish Ensemble to create a 60-minute immersive film ('Songs for Life with Karen Cargill'); currently working on a feature in development (Since Yesterday / Play Like A Girl); selected by Kickstarter for In Edit festival; my first short film ('Everybody's Business') came second place at 16 DAYS 16 FILMS, was screened at the Channel 4 cinema and received a bursary from Modern Films. My background is in observational documentary for broadcast. Other credits include major broadcasters eg BBC, Sky Arts, Channel 4 and Channel 5. I’ve also made PSAs and campaign films for Red Cross, UK Says No More, International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation, Umbrella Lane, Humane Being and Wheels to Heal and have been selected for London City Open Doc Fest, Camarthen Bay film festival and Mountain Bound short film festival.  Interested in exploring the threshold between the real and the imagined. Own full FX9 / FS7 rig, DSLRs, mixture of prime and zoom lenses, radio mics etc.
