Ciara's story

My name is Ciara - I'm a creative and passionate freelance videographer. I'm originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, where I lived until moving to the UK in 2015. I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2018 with a first class Honours degree in Film and Television. I was recently included in Rife Magazine's list of 24 Most Influential Bristolians Under 24 for my work as a young filmmaker. I am currently completing an MA in Film Directing at the Edinburgh College of Art, and co-launched my own production company, Slightly Bitter Productions, in 2020.

Over the past few years, I have worked at a Bristol-based production company, as well as on a number of freelance commercial and personal projects including several music videos. I have shot, directed and edited two short films for BBC3's online platforms, and have pitched, filmed, directed and edited a short documentary, No Man, screened at multiple film festivals across the UK, including the prestigious Sheffield Doc/Fest.

My main passion is documentary filmmaking. I love seeing projects through from inception to completion, being able to direct, shoot, edit and colour grade myself. I love capturing weird and wonderful visuals with a heavy emphasis on nature and bold, bright colours.
