Maria's story:
Ukrainian DoP

She was born in Ukraine, Kyiv. Since 2019, she has been working as a documentary cinematographer. Previously, she worked as a 1AD and script supervisor on the Ukrainian TV series. Also, as a DoP on the TV Suspilne.

In the winter of 2022, due to the war in Ukraine, she relocated to Scotland. She was awarded a grant from the Scottish Documentary Institute to produce the film The Sound of the Wind, where she worked as a director and cinematographer. The premiere took place at the Edinburgh Film Festival.

With the onset of the war, she also produced a documentary film titled Breathing. This documentary narrates the story of the war in Ukraine from the very first moments of the invasion. The film received numerous awards at international film festivals.
